Terry Dear,
I’ve just come off guard; it is eight o’clock and a very stormy morning. Last night it blew half a gale; much coming in like the proverbial lion. I have made up my mind to write you this before going to nap. I was delighted when I got in this morning to find a letter from you on my shelf, instead of reading it at once, I decided to light the fire, tidy up the billet and make my bed before opening it. I hope you can imagine how disappointed I was. I think when you’ve been without sleep for a little while things seem magnified a bit and I am afraid I was rather sorry for myself for a little while instead of realizing how unpleasant a shock it must have been for you.
These last six months have been such a clean break from any sort of life that I have ever experienced before that I feel that a new chapter has started in our lives and that anything that was in the last chapter is a different me, that being so, and I want you feel, (I think this is true) that I am a better and I hope a finer person than that other one. Two things I know, I could never tell you another lie, and that I love you inexpressibly and appreciate you more than I ever did.
I am enclosing with this letter the…

…rough copy of the letter I am sending to Mr Poole, this is the first time he has ever sent in an account as you will notice I point out to and he doesn’t seem to have made any effort to send in the forms to the BHI Say as he should have done. I was under the impression that he had done this and that they had paid the claim in full. You will agree that it has always been our impression that he was a very muddly sort of person.
Well Darling one I’m going to bed now, you must forgive my not enclosing a little letter to Jill but I’m very sleepy, although much happier than I should have been. I had left answering yours till later.
God Bless you my dearest
Your own
Kenneth
P.s Thanks you so much for Vic’s address and instructions as to getting over to see him, I will transmit to all those who are interested.

- 28th February—British forces recover parts of an Enigma cipher machine from a sunken German U-boat. This enhances Allied ability decode German messages and builds on earlier efforts by Polish cryptanalysts to break the Enigma code.
- 1st March—Adolf Hitler formally orders preparations for the invasion of Norway and Denmark in “Operation Weserübung.” This plan aims to secure supply routes and establish control of Scandinavia, marking a shift in German strategy in Northern Europe.
