Just a quick note to let you know I arrived safely. Shep is going out and has promised to post this. I am afraid Coventry was very badly blitzed again last night, though not so badly as on the first occasion. I got a lift between Coventry and here in an American Surgical unit car and learnt that the General Hospital had been hit six…

…times apart from that and the poor civilians. Courtaulds, where they make the barrage balloons was the only place of any importance badly tired. The team seems very tired, they were up all night. The Brig, they tell me, opened up the Birmingham barrage in an attempt to draw Jerry away from Coventry but with very little success.

Although I use the bypass, always when I return one can see the city and the fires at 1oc had all been got under control. There has been no recurrence…

…of the general exodus into the countryside that happened last time.

Thank you darling again for a lovely time this 48. I am looking forward now to the next which should be either the 21st or 23rd, that is if we have no more trouble from our friends on this side.
