Darling,

I enclose letter and a/c from Mr. Poole which arrived this morning per Registered post. I’m afraid this has rather upset me as I thought this matter had been settled long ago via the Bankers Health Insurance. You must appreciate dear that this sort of thing gives me a very nasty reminder of all that was wrong with your management in the past and with my present struggle to make ends meet and keep cheerful and well, I just can’t stand up to these knocks.

I am dropping Poole a note to say you are at present in France and that I have forwarded his letter, but please attend to this matter without delay. After all you were in the Bank at the time and I can’t understand why the matter did not go through. Perhaps you will be able to do something through your father. Anyway, it’s an urgent matter that requires your attention. It grieves me to read that you have never even acknowledged any of Poole’s previous…

  • The Royal Air Force (RAF) conducts nighttime reconnaissance flights over Austria and Bohemia, dropping propaganda leaflets over Vienna. This marks an effort by Britain to both gather intelligence and sway public opinion in Axis territories.
  • The RAF undertakes bombing operations targeting German warships in the Heligoland Bight. Due to adverse weather, one British aircraft fails to return from the mission.
  • On the Karelian Isthmus, Soviet forces continue heavy bombardment of Finnish positions, but Finnish troops manage to hold positions near Viipuri. The Soviet Air Force increases bombing raids over Finland, putting further strain on Finnish defenses.
