Mummy is very sad when you don’t write to her and it is now ten days since she heard from you. She says she will write as soon as she hears from you.
Auntie Tris came to tea on Wednesday and she says Uncle Vic will probably be home next week.

January 3rd–During his State of the Union speech President Franklin D. Roosevelt tells Americans that they must prepare to feel the effects of foreign wars and announces plans to increase defense spending by increasing taxes.
January 4th–The Polish government in exile arranges with the French to allow for the formation of Polish military units in France.
January 6th–Finnish fighter pilot, Jorma Sarvanto, shoots down six Russian bombers during a single engagement. It’s a record which makes him world famous.
January 7th–The Finnish defeat the Soviet Army at the Battle of Raate Road.
January 8th–Rationing of butter, bacon, ham and sugar begin in the UK.
January 10th–German plans for an invasion of the Low Countries—Fall Gelb—being carried by a German Officer fall into the hands of Belgian Intelligence when a plane crash lands in neutral Belgium.
